MarlienWEAR\u00a0is a Dutch fashion label, designed by a young woman who grew up in a little village but always dreamt about the bigger world. The designs always have an exciting balance between high-end fashion and streetwear. Infused with a punk-edge and a deviant way of constructing. High-end fashion is often seen as uncomfortable, and she tries to break boundaries by applying traditional elements of the streetwear culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collections are designed for people who feel and are different from the community they grew up in or live in. Common themes throughout the collections are social order in relationships, sexuality, society, and politics. From these themes, MarlienWEAR creates stand-alone pieces, mostly using oversized or big volumes and bright \u2013 often mismatching \u2013 colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clothes she designs should be a wake-up call or an eye-opener.\u00a0‘I play with things that are considered ugly, depressing, or stupid \u2013 and turn them into something funny, nice, or beautiful.<\/em>‘\u00a0It is the tension between the two sides, using a lot of contrast, in which the designs are born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea behind MarlienWEAR is to feel free and secure in the clothes. You don\u2019t have to wear a little black dress or a big princess gown to a gala. She tries to find ways and designs that are comfortable, chill, and relaxed. The brand stands for diversity, body positivity, mental health, and women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the designs are made of deadstock or recycled fabric. All of the items are designed and handmade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She studied BA Fashion Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and gained work experience at SCHEPERSBOSMAN and David Laport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
